For our next GEC Global Top Scientists Forum: Single-Particle Cryo-EM —— Visualizing the Building Blocks of Life in Their Native States
Join us on May 17th, 20:00-21:00, Beijing Time via Zoom (Meeting ID: 896 4673 8528; Passcode: 240517) for an enlightening open lecture by Professor Joachim Frank, Nobel Laureate and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and Biological Sciences at Columbia University. In this lecture, Professor Frank will focus on the revolutionary impact of cryo-EM on the study of biological molecules, helping us better understand how cryo-EM enables researchers to determine the structure of molecules in solution and observe their shape changes during cellular interactions. With the development of new cameras, cryo-EM has achieved near-atomic resolution for many biomedical molecules, including ion channels and receptors. Professor Frank will also highlight the significant contributions of cryo-EM to the development of vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.
